Let's talking about getting ready photos!

This is seriously one of my favourite parts of the day, I love the vibes when you walk into a room full of beautiful ladies getting all dolled up, nerves are running high and the mimosas floweth. 🥂🍾

So, what can YOU do to make sure that you get some bomb ass getting ready photos? 💣

Here are a few quick tips for the morning of your wedding day:

  • Skip the bra! You’ll end up with bra lines all over your back in your dress photos.

  • Take the hair tie or the watch off of your wrist! You’ll either end up with lines or forget to take it off and have it in every photo.

  • No socks for the same reasons as above, wear slippers to prevent cold toes.

Okay, now that that’s out of the way we can go on!

1. Pick a beautiful room with lots of natural light to get ready in!

Whether you're getting ready at home or in a hotel, choosing a beautiful room with lots of windows or utilizing your venues bridal suite really adds to the WOW factor in the getting ready photos.

2. Make sure you keep that room as clutter free as possible.

I know that is REALLY FREAKING HARD because you and everyone getting ready with you will have a ton of stuff with you but try to shove that all in another room where it's out of sight so there’s nothing distracting in the background.

3. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE VIBES YA'LL.

Create a dope playlist full of bangers and bring a Bluetooth speaker to play it wherever you're headed.

4. Get matching outfits for you & your crew!

I feel like this adds to the vibes and it always looks SO cute in photos. You could order some super cute robes or comfy sweats that also make amazing bridal gifts! Try and find something that you can easily take off without wrecking your hair and make up, nothing that slips off overhead. Customized glassware is also a great idea that makes for some fun photos!

5. Gather all of the details you want photographed the day before.

These details can include any jewelry, shoes, stationary (invitations & save the dates), flowers, any other heirlooms or accessories that will be part of your day. And of course, your wedding dress! A nice hanger for the dress will ensure it photographs well. It's a good idea to steam the dress the day before as well if possible, many dresses have a ton of layers and it can be time consuming.

6. Plan PLENTY of time to get everyone ready.

Work with your hair & make up team as well as your photographer to create a stress free timeline. Make sure everyone in the wedding party knows what time they need to be ready by and where they need to be. Plan for more time than you would initially think is needed, it’s very easy to fall behind schedule.

7. Do multiple first looks.

Maybe you decided to go the traditional route and not do a first look with your partner. That doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun! Do a first look with your dad/mom/grandparents! Those photos are always the sweetest, there is nothing more special that the smile on a parent or grandparents face as they see their baby all grown up, looking incredible, about to get freaking married!

A first look with your bridesmaids is always special too! Seriously no one’s going to hype you up more than your girls right after you put that dress on!

8. EAT!

Okay this isn’t exactly about photos but It's so easy to get caught up in wedding nerves and forget to eat. Make sure you eat something! You may not have another chance until the reception. Also, make sure you pee before you put the dress on.

10. Try to RELAX!

Easier said than done but try your best to take some time to yourself to breathe and take it all in. It might be helpful to designate someone to handle your phone so you don't have to worry about replying to questions or coordinate all the things.

BONUS: Write each other a letter to read alone as you're getting ready.

Okay okay, you don't HAVE to do this if you’re not into it but it's always such a sweet moment and makes for stunning and emotive photos. Plus there’s nothing like a solid reminder of what the day is all about in the first place!
