7 Reasons You Need An Engagement Session

  1. To get to know your wedding photographer

Your photographer is going to be following you around on one of the most important days of your life, from the time you start getting ready to the end of the night, when maybe you’ve had a few too many. An engagement session is a great way to get to know the person behind the camera and make sure you can be yourself around them. You’ll see a huge difference in your photos if you can relax in front of their camera!

  2. Practice makes perfect

It might feel a bit awkward getting your photo taken for the first time in, what could be, a long time. If you do an engagement session you’ll get used to being in front of the camera and know what to expect from your photographer. When your wedding day comes around you’ll have already practiced picture-taking in a pressure-free setting.

  3. See a preview of what your wedding photos will look like

If you work with your photographer prior to your wedding you get the opportunity to let them know what angles you found the most flattering and what images you loved the most so they can remember that for the big day! AND if you plan your trial hair and make-up for your engagement session you get a glimpse of how it will look in photos! Make-up doesn’t show up as well in camera so while you might think it too heavy it could actually be the perfect amount for photos.

  4. Express yourselves

On your wedding day you’re going to be dressed to the nines. You probably don’t wear a wedding dress or tux every day, if you do please let me know cause I’ve got a few questions. Engagement sessions allow you to express who you are while wearing the clothes you feel most yourselves in! I encourage all of my couples to pick a place that has meaning to them, or maybe somewhere new & beautiful they’ve never been to so it’s an adventure! It’s also a great time to include your pets if they can’t be part of the wedding!

  5. Reconnect with each other

Life is BUSY. There’s always something you have to do, somewhere you have to to go. It’s especially difficult if you have opposing work schedules! An engagement session is a good time to slow down, remember why you fell in love, and dream about your future together. I always ask my clients what they love about each other, they’re favourite memory of their partner or to reminisce about a time where they laughed the hardest together. Those conversations always make for some incredible photos!

  6. Use the photos for your invites or wedding decor

Make your invitations that much more personal by putting some incredible photos of the two of you on them. Your guests might be hanging it on their fridge and looking at it every single day, make sure they’re looking at somethin’ pretty! Engagement photos also make great decor for your wedding. You could even make a guest book from the gallery so your guests can check them out while they’re signing it!

  7. Your photographer has more time to be creative

Weddings go by in the blink of an eye and there are so much going on there usually isn’t much time to get super creative with the images! During an engagement session photographers have time to play with different concepts without risking the loss of an important shot if it doesn’t pan out the way intended.

These are a few reasons why I include a complimentary engagement session in every WEDDING package
